Currently we have 40+ phlebotomists working at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

We also provide Phlebotomy Services for the Community Group Practices in Concord, Manchester, and Nashua, NH employing an additional 30+ Phlebotomists.

  • Outpatient Phlebotomy in Lebanon draws approximately 500 patients per day.
  • Inpatient Phlebotomy in Lebanon draws approximately 400-500 per day.

Our Phlebotomists work with a variety of patients from newborns to geriatric patients.
Phlebotomists perform blood draws, but there are many other tasks they may complete, such as working on the computers, as a trouble-shooter completing complicated lab slips and contacting providers for verification, or greeting patients. We also have staff who pursue their ASCP certification and become trainers for our department.
We have many different skill levels in our department, from new to experienced phlebotomists, and all skill levels are well utilized.

Additionally, we have a “No Experience Necessary – 90-Day Paid Training Program”.

This program requires a High School Diploma, a focus on customer service and providing a great patient experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Early morning, day, evening, and night shifts. Rotating weekends and holidays required. Generous shift differentials provided.

Phlebotomy Trainee:

As a Phlebotomy Trainee, you will learn hands-on phlebotomy skills in a hospital setting, may have already completed a Phlebotomy training program, and are ready to start your career in healthcare. In this entry-level role, you’ll develop foundational skills in specimen collection, patient interaction, and safety procedures under direct supervision while preparing for professional certification and career advancement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Preparing for or enrolled in ASCP certification
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and follow established procedures

Phlebotomist: 

Phlebotomists at DHMC play an essential role in patient care by performing blood collections and handling specimens to ensure accurate laboratory testing. Candidates may bring prior phlebotomy experience or experience in patient-facing roles within healthcare. In this position, you will perform venipuncture and capillary collections independently while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and compliance with hospital and laboratory guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ months of experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ASCP eligibility required
  • Strong venipuncture skills and knowledge of specimen requirements
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and attention to detail

Senior Phlebotomist:

As a Senior Phlebotomist, you will bring your experience to a role that combines patient care, technical expertise, and team support. As a Senior Phlebotomist, you will perform advanced blood collection procedures, help coordinate workflow, and mentor team members while ensuring the highest standards of specimen quality and patient experience.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months of phlebotomy experience or experience in patient-facing roles
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ASCP eligibility required
  • Advanced venipuncture and capillary collection skills
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and mentorship abilities
