Help drive the workflow of a renowned academic medical center’s anatomic and clinical pathology labs.
To support the needs of our laboratories the Laboratory Information System section requires a unique skillset. All of our team members possess a combination of education and skills in laboratory medicine and information technology. Our team is involved in supporting all aspects of laboratory operations by designing information systems supported workflows that drive efficiency and standardization. Some examples of what we do: We support whole slide imaging, telecytology, and voice driven workflows in Anatomic Pathology. We support transmission of next-gen genomic sequencing data for curation and reporting in our CGAT lab. We provide turnaround time and exceptions data and integrate with over 100 systems through medical device and foreign system interfaces for Clinical Pathology. We develop electronic blood donor questionnaires and support electronic crossmatching in the Blood Bank. Our systems are integral to our Outreach program, we build electronic orders in our EMR. We contribute data and expertise to LEAN projects and custom programming for process improvement. We customize the laboratory information system software to enable laboratory sections to take advantage of the latest technology. We monitor data transmitted from the LIS to other systems to ensure accuracy and consistency of patient results. The list goes on and on.
Our team is comprised of self-motivated individuals able to work both collaboratively and independently, juggle multiple projects, apply clinical and analytical skills and experience to develop solutions that apply to every aspect of the laboratory. We directly impact the quality of care for our patients. We take pride in our support of each other and in the fact that we make a difference in how the lab works. We are rewarded by seeing the outcomes of our work clearly reflected in improved laboratory operations.
