The D-H cytogenetics laboratory is the only laboratory in the state of New Hampshire which provides genetic testing for chromosome abnormalities associated with congenital disorders and cancer.
We employ both conventional cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques including fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to analyze genomic aberrations at the chromosomal and submicroscopic levels. Cytogenetic test results are important in diagnosis and treatment of patients with constitutional genetic conditions and cancer as well as genetic counseling. The laboratory also offers cell culture and cryopreservation of clinical specimens. We work closely with clinicians, genetic counselors, nurses, and other laboratory professionals. The lab also actively involves in training trainees at all levels including medical residents, fellows and medical students, and participates in translational clinical research.
